Opinions on External HDD?
What do you guys think about them. Are they a safe way to keep your data and how safe are they?
What are their flaws? Better buying external or add another internal HDD? Will external HDD help me speed my computer up? Those are just some of the few questions that I'd like to know because I'm debating whether I should buy a new comp (this one is 4 years old) but has decent configuration or just new parts or will a Ex HDD be enough? Oh and where to check your system configuration where it's displayed your graphic card, etc... Is it dx diag or somethign else? EDIT: Oh and if a virus attacks your comuter will external HDD be safe? um, i think i'll just answer each question one after the other.
What do you guys think about them. Are they a safe way to keep your data and how safe are they? if you don't have roommates or thieving siblings, they are about as safe as any harddrive. What are their flaws? external drives are typically more expensive, and are typically slower because they are limited by USB bandwidth. there are ones that uses firewire, which is fast, but they are harder to find. not many computers support firewire also. Better buying external or add another internal HDD? almost always better to go internal, unless you've run out of SATA cables/slots. OK so should I get a new PC then and what needs upgrading? Here's the stats:
Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU 2.66Ghz (2 CPUs) Memory: 510 RAM Display Device: Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series DAC Type(?): Internal DAC (400MHz) Approx. Total Memory: 256,0 MB Windows XP 32bit Any help? |
